Oliver: I am ready! Let’s begin.
Grace: Okay, let’s start with the most important word. When you see a friend, you say "Hello." Can you say it with me? Hello.
Oliver: Hel-lo. Hello.
Grace: Very good. "Hello" is a greeting. It means, "I am happy to see you."
Oliver: Now, let’s learn to say your name. My name is Oliver. Grace, what is your name?
Grace: My name is Grace. Now, listener, you try. Say, "My name is..." and then your name.
Oliver: That was great! If you feel shy, that is okay. English is new. It is okay to be shy.
Grace: Yes, it is. Learning is a process. "Process" means it happens little by little. Like walking. One step, then another step.
Oliver: So, let's practice the first key phrase. Phrase number one: "My name is." Repeat after me. My. Name. Is.
Grace: My. Name. Is.
Oliver: Grace, you have a beautiful name.
Grace: Thank you, Oliver! You are very kind. "Kind" means you are nice to people.
Oliver: Grace, how many languages are we speaking today?
Grace: Just one! English.
Oliver: And how many hosts are there?
Grace: One, two. There are two hosts.
Oliver: Let's practice numbers. Numbers are very important. Let’s count to three.
Grace: Okay! Repeat after us. One. Two. Three.
Oliver: Again! One. Two. Three.
Grace: Perfect. Now, let’s look at objects around us. I see a cup.
Oliver: A cup. C-U-P. We use a cup for water or coffee.
Grace: I have a pen. A pen is for writing.
Oliver: P-E-N. Pen.
Grace: Now, listen and repeat these words. I will say them, you say them.
Grace: Cup.
Grace: Pen.
Grace: Hello.
Oliver: You are doing very well. Remember, if you do not know a word, do not worry. You can listen again later.
Grace: Now, it is time for a short story. Stories help us learn faster. This is a story about a man named Sam.
Oliver: Sam is a beginner, just like you. Let's listen.
Grace: Sam wakes up. He says, "Hello, world!"
Oliver: Sam wants to learn English. He buys a book. The book is for beginners.
Grace: Sam reads the book. He learns one word. Then, he learns two words.
Oliver: Every day, Sam practices. He says, "I learn English."
Grace: That is a great sentence. Let’s practice that sentence together.
Oliver: "I."
Grace: "Learn."
Oliver: "English."
Grace: "I learn English."
Oliver: Good! Let's try it faster. "I learn English."
Grace: See? Sam is happy. He learns a little bit every day. You are like Sam. You are here, you are listening, and you are learning.
Oliver: Now, we do "Shadowing." Shadowing is when you speak at the same time as us. It helps your mouth move correctly.
Grace: Are you ready? We will speak slowly. Follow our voice.
Oliver: "My name is Oliver."
Grace: "My name is Grace."
Oliver: "I learn English."
Grace: "English is fun."
Oliver: Did you do it?
Grace: I think they did a great job, Oliver.
Oliver: I think so too. It feels strange at first, right? Making new sounds with your mouth?
Grace: Yes, but that is how we learn. My mouth feels different when I speak English compared to my native language. It takes practice!
